City Montessori
School from Lucknow, India was founded by Mr.Jagdish Gandhi,
a young visionary, and his wife Mrs.Dr.Bharti Gandhi, M.Ed.Ph.D.
Child Psychologist, four decades ago, 1959, inspired by the
teachings of Mahatma Gandhi and Vinoba Bhave. The support
of the parents to the school efforts to provide value-based
education to children has seen the school which began with
only five students on roll, grow into world’s largest
city-school in less than forty years.
CMS is the Guiness World Record Holder for being the world’s
largest school in a city. Over 25,000 students in 20 locations
of Lucknow receive more than a quality education from the
pre-primary to the ISC level (gradeXII).
CMS is a progresive school. It sees school as a lighthouse
of society and every child as potentially the light of this
world. This spirit is simbolized in the CMS motto “Jai
Jagat” (Glory to the World) and its belief in “Vasudhaiv
Kutumbakam”(The Whole World is One Family).
